While I'd love to switch over to Carrier from Pidgin (the input field issue is annoying, to say the least)... I can't do that because it's not available for Windows. I'll check back in a few months, but for now I guess I'll stick with Pidgin after my reformat...
I love this. We can get no news from the devs and they wrote this on the front page:
"What makes us different from the official client, is that we work for you. Unlike the Pidgin developers, we believe the user should have the final say in what goes into the program."
If you guys work for us, then please answer your question. Is there going to be a windows version, and if there is any release date?
Its not a difficult question, its pretty simple.
There is going to be a Windows build, though an exact timeframe can not be set on when. What I do know is that the WebKit issue is what is holding up the Windows build.
WebKit's GTK support is currently very limited on Windows and does not support the necessary functions that are needed by Carrier.
WebKit is necessary for the Adium Message Styles feature included in Carrier 2.4.2. The unofficial build was simply compiled without this support included.
Also, keep an eye on #carrierim on irc.freenode.net... it's not the most active channel out there but a good source for information and communication about Carrier.
Since the Adium support is the only thing preventing a WIndows build of Carrier, would it be possible to remove that functionality for now? I have no need of it, and it seems silly to be locked out simply because a function I won't be using anyway isn't working. I'm stuck in the unfortunate situation where the corporate wireless authentication (LEAP) is a broken design, and I have to use Windows instead of Linux (and the remote access doesn't have dial-up support under Linux either).
Right here. Works great for me. http://justin-hayes.com/2008-05-31/unofficial-carrier-242-windows-build
That pages says there is no official 2.4.2 because WebKit wont compile.
What is WebKit? Why would we want it? What do we give up without it?
If there is no official 2.4.2 because WebKit wont compile, then how was this 2.4.2 made?
Will there be a windows version soon, or is the windows version not coming out?
waiting for windows version
I just stumbled on this project, and am quite excited by it, but I to am looking for the windows build.
I get an Access denied message from the linked unofficial build.
As Xenomorph asked,
Any word on this would definitely be appreciated. I'm waiting for it, too.
Thanks for any info.
Webkit, (http://webkit.org/), is the layout engine used for the Adium message styles plugin.
I'm waiting on Carrier to be released for windows with this plugin, myself.

Thanks for the news. It gives hope and a idea why it has no been released yet. All I am asking for :)

Can you please put the unofficial windows version on sourceforge? I also get access denied getting it from the above link.
Thanks,
