Sound on Ubuntu Hardy

Sound on Ubuntu Hardy

Hi folks:

I just installed funpidgin on 2 different Ubuntu hardy boxes. In neither case do i have an option for proper sound. The options displayed are no sound, console beep, and command -- i REALLY need sound on my IM client - this could be a real dealbreaker -- someone please help!

Sound has been messed up in my Pidgin install for a long time. I don't see the problem with using a command though. Make it aplay %s or if that doesn't work, mplayer %s.

gstreamer0.10-esd might solve it...

I tried downloading the gstreamer0.10-esd and pidgin just starts to play sounds after install...
