Adding AOL IM "Buddy" to my Account
I just installed this on Vista x64 system. I have an MSN account - it installed, I entered my password, etc. - it imported my existing contacts - i.e., buddies. I want to use this because some people I do business with are on AOL, others on Yahoo -
WHen I try to add the AOL address of a friend as a new Buddy, it says it cannot because it is not a valid MSN address???
How to I get the AOL or Yahoo people onto my Buddy list so I can IM them??
You have to have an AOL or Yahoo account. Once you've signed up for one (at aim.com and yahoo.com), go to Accounts->Manage, and add your AOL and Yahoo accounts there. Then, add a buddy, and pick whatever messenger they are using (so if you want to add a Yahoo buddy, pick the Yahoo account that you added).
Thanks so much - !!! That did it - newbie user question - would be nice if they changed the interface to be a little more colorful - I am used to the MSN interface and all the emotioncons -

Well, there is the emoticon button above the area you type. If you don't see it, check the Options menu and make sure "Show Formatting Toolbars" is checked. Clicking on that button will open up a popup which shows all the available smilies (I assume that's what you're referring to?).
