Improve MSN support!

I have a MSN hotmail.com account which I have used for chatting with MSN for years, but with Pidgin it just refuses to sign in. It always says my log in details are wrong. This happens on Pidgin on both Windows and Linux. I can sign in fine with E-messenger and Meebo, but Pidgin, forgot it.

I have an alternative MSN account which I use from time to time which is based on a gmail email account and that does sign in, but only after the 2nd or 3rd attempt. It is definitely more flaky than the yahoo accounts I use which sign in first time and more or less instantly.

I was talking to a friend last night who has bought an EEEPC and she was complaining about how crap Pidgin is because it just wont work with her MSN account.

Seriously, what gives with MSN support being so flaky?

I've never had this problem, perhaps you have a proxy or a firewall that's blocking the port MSN Messenger is trying to use or something? :S

Try going to account options and change to HTTP method and see if this is any better. I doubt Carrier could do much to improve MSN support as I thought they only dealt with the GUI side of things?
